DINE IN THE SKY

The Atomium was built for the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair: Expo '58. It has been designed by André Waterkeyn, and is 102-metres (335 ft) tall. The nine steel spheres are connected so that the whole forms the shape of a unit cell of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times.

The Atomium is one of the most visited attractions in Brussels today. In 2008, the Atomium celebrated its 50th Birthday and for the occasion has been offered a whole new and shiny outfit.

You are looking for an unique experience of dining in the sky overlooking the capital of Europe? Do not hesitate to contact @dmire to guide you to this once in a life time experience and something that your guests will remember!

BRUSSELS FLOWER CARPET

During the month of August people buzz like bees in Brussels. No wonder! The sun shines, a nice breeze blows through the animated narrow streets of the capital and many people enjoy a local beer on a terrace. And with no surprise, they all seem to be converging to the center of the Grand Place where every year a huge Floral Carpet covers the most beautiful main square of the world.

The first Floral Carpet was created in 1971 on the Grand Place by the landscape architect E. Stautemans who quickly realized that floral carpets would be an excellent vehicle for the promotion of his favorite flowers; the begonias. During 3 days you can enjoy the magnificent colors and the flowery smell of an uncommon garden in the very heart of the city.

MAGRITTE vs BELGIAN SURREALISM

Magritte is the 20th century's most celebrated, surrealist painter. Born in 1898 in French-speaking Belgium, Magritte moved to Brussels to study painting at the Academy of Fine Arts. Influenced by the Dadaist movement (1916-1923), Magritte rose to become renowned in the art world for his surrealist paintings. Along with his friends, such as Salvador Dali and Max Ernst, he ignited a global movement that impacted all media, including advertising, theatre and movies. He died in Brussels in August 1967.

Belgian surrealism, specifically, describes “a spirit of irreverence, absurdity and derision”. Magritte is best known for his juxtaposition of ordinary objects in unusual context.

It was imperative for Belgium to recognize Magritte, a celebrity in the art world, as one of their own with the Magritte museum opening in, of course, the most important Belgian city, Brussels. Whether you are an art lover or not, this museum is guaranteed to wow you. Inspired by both the bizarre and the absurd, Magritte evokes a wide spectrum of themes to entice the observer. Surrounded by Brussels as your backdrop, the Magritte museum offers an out of body experience and a course in art appreciation at the same time.

IT'S ALL ABOUT BEER

In Belgium, beer is a big part of the culture. There are many fine beers throughout the world, but most of them tend to be brewed in Belgium. Many small towns have their own beer(s), so if you go to Hoegaarden, you will find a Hoegaarden beer and if you visit Chimay, you will find the Chimay beer, etc. Belgium is home to 115 breweries that produce about 500 beers.

Why not contacting @dmire for a beer safari tour or tasting a beer gourmet menu or undertaking a discovery of Belgian Monastic and Abbey Beers or just having a beer tasting? The choices of beers and the tastes are endless.

BRUSSELS ROYAL PALACE VISIT

The Royal Palace of Belgium is one of the most beautiful official buildings in the capital of Brussels, facing the Parliament building across the Royal Park. It symbolizes the system of government, which is a constitutional monarchy.

Built in pure Louis XVI style, it is here that the King exercises his prerogatives as Head of State, grants audiences and receives official state visits. The Palace is filled with magnificent chambers and salons and fine collections of art. The monumental staircases and the state rooms are particularly interesting, with installations by well-known modern artists.

When the Castle open its doors visitors to the city are given an opportunity to gain a glimpse into the official life of the Royals.

'IN BRUGES'

Known as the Venice of the North, Bruges is famous for being the only remaining European medieval town that has been entirely preserved and thus being one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. In 2000, UNESCO included the entire historical city centre of Bruges onto the World Heritage list.

The movie ‘In Bruges’ released in 2008, starring Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes, tells the story of two hit men holed up in Bruges after a difficult job, who begin to differ on their views of life and death as they become used to local customs.

Do you want to be taken in some of the scenes of this movie, or just get around in the atmosphere? A very detailed map with all the movie locations will be the basic document for a teambuilding activity in the footsteps of these two hit men with a good dose of fun, heart and adrenaline…. The program includes many of the venues from the movie: hotels, restaurants, taverns, museums and so much more and can be tailor-made.
